This is my first photoshoot, what should I know?
A first photoshoot should feel easy, comfortable and more like spending time with a friend than posing for a camera. You don’t need to practice or come to the session knowing what to do. I will guide you the entire time with gentle direction so you never feel awkward or unsure. We’ll take our time, find beautiful light, and capture moments that feel natural and true to you.
Most people arrive a little nervous and leave saying, “That was actually fun.” My goal is exactly that- to help you relax, enjoy the experience, and walk away with beautiful images that feel just like you.
Are the travel expenses included in your packages?
I love to travel, and I would be thrilled to come to you or help bring your destination‑session vision to life. Sessions within the greater Lexington and Columbia area include travel at no extra cost. If your photoshoot is a bit farther out, I add a travel fee of $100/hour plus the current mileage rate. These fees are in addition to your session cost and we’ll talk through everything ahead of time so you know exactly what to expect before confirming your session.
My goal is to keep the process simple, clear, and joy‑filled — whether we’re meeting close to home or somewhere that's meaningful to you.
How long does it take to get our photos?
For family and senior sessions, you can expect your full gallery in about two weeks. Weddings take a bit more time — typically 6–8 weeks because of the care and detail that go into editing such a meaningful day.
I also know how excited you’ll be to relive those first moments of your wedding, so for weddings I send a handful of sneak peeks within 24 hours. It’s the perfect way to share the joy with your family and friends the very next day.
If you ever need your photos sooner, I’m always open to discussing rush editing. When my schedule allows, I’m happy to accommodate a faster turnaround.

Can you recommend any good locations?
Absolutely! Choosing the right location is one of my favorite parts of planning your session. I have a list of beautiful spots around the Lexington and Columbia area, from quiet fields with golden light to charming downtown corners and peaceful lakeside views. Once I know the vibe you’re dreaming of whether it is something natural, something urban, something sentimental, I can suggest a few places that fit your vision perfectly.

What Happens if the weather is bad on the day of my session?
Weather in South Carolina has a mind of its own — it can change by the minute. If the forecast looks questionable, I’ll reach out the day before or the morning of your session so we can keep an eye on things together. I don’t make a final call until a few hours before because conditions often shift quickly and sometimes the prettiest light comes right after a storm.
If the weather truly isn’t cooperating, we’ll reschedule for the next available date that works for our calendars. My goal is always to give you the best possible experience no matter what the weather!
What should we wear for our session?
Choosing outfits can feel like a lot but it doesn’t have to be. I want you to feel comfortable, confident, and like the best version of yourself. To help, I’ve put together a Pinterest board full of outfit ideas, color palettes, and combinations that photograph beautifully — it’s a great place to start if you’re looking for inspiration.
A few tips I always share with clients:
Choose 2–3 complementary colors to build everyone’s outfits around. This keeps things cohesive without feeling too “matchy.”
Stick to neutral or soft, earthy tones — they photograph beautifully and keep the focus on you.
Avoid dressing everyone in the exact same outfit (we’ve all lived through the matching‑khakis‑and‑white‑shirts era). Coordinating is much more natural than matching.
Mix in one or two subtle patterns with solid colors to add depth and visual interest without overwhelming the photo.
I love when clients send me outfit ideas. Feel free to text or email me photos of what you’re considering. I’m always happy to give feedback on what will work best with your location, the season, and the overall vibe you’re dreaming of. We’ll make sure everything feels cohesive, natural, and true to your story.
How do we book a session? How far in advance?
Booking a session is simple. You can reach out to me directly, or you can browse my Pixieset booking site to see all current sessions and mini sessions I’m offering. If you don’t see exactly what you’re looking for, please reach out — I love designing custom sessions that fit your vision perfectly.
Once we’ve chosen the right session for you, I’ll send over a contract and invoice to officially reserve your date.
For family sessions, most people book 3-6 weeks in advance, especially during busy seasons like spring and fall. For senior sessions, most people book 3-4 months in advance. My senior sessions always book up quickly! Weddings are typically booked 8 months to a year ahead, depending on the date.
